Green garnet, also known as tsavorite, is a stunning gemstone renowned for its vibrant green colour and exceptional brilliance. It belongs to the garnet family and is prized for its rarity and unique hue. Tsavorite gets its green colour from the presence of chromium and vanadium in its composition.

This gemstone was discovered in the late 1960s in Tanzania by British geologist Campbell Bridges. It was later found in Kenya as well, and both countries remain the primary sources of tsavorite. The name “tsavorite” was derived from Tsavo National Park in Kenya, which is known for its abundant wildlife and beautiful landscapes.
