Black mother of pearl, also known as black nacre, is a captivating variation of the iridescent material found within the shells of certain molluscs. It exhibits a striking dark colour palette, ranging from deep charcoal to jet black, enhancing its allure and adding a touch of mystery to its appearance.

Similar to traditional mother of pearl, black mother of pearl is formed through the same organic process. It consists of layers of aragonite crystals interlaced with organic substances, such as proteins and polysaccharides. These layered structures reflect and refract light, creating a mesmerising play of dark, shimmering hues.
