This bespoke Art Deco necklace showcases how heirloom gemstones can be transformed through thoughtful jewellery redesign.
A recent bespoke commission brought together heritage, elegance, and architectural flair in a striking Art Deco–inspired necklace, handcrafted using the client’s own elongated pentagon rose-cut onyx gemstones.
Rather than altering the stones, the design celebrates them in their original form. Each faceted onyx, cut in a distinctive elongated pentagon shape with softly reflective rose-cut surfaces, was carefully arranged to create a balanced and rhythmic composition. Between the stones, delicate gold and diamond-set bars introduce flashes of brilliance, echoing the geometric precision and refined glamour associated with the Art Deco era.
At the heart of the project was a desire to honour the character and history of the original gemstones. By preserving the unique shape and cut of the onyx, our designers were able to create a necklace that feels both timeless and contemporary — transforming treasured stones into a bold, sculptural silhouette. The design language continues through to the bespoke diamond-set clasp, where the elongated pentagon form is subtly echoed, creating a sense of harmony from front to back. A citrine centre stone adds a final note of warmth and individuality.
This commission is a beautiful example of how heirloom gemstones can be reimagined through bespoke jewellery design, allowing meaningful materials to find new life in a modern piece while preserving their story.
The project came to us through one of our trusted retail partners — a reminder of the collaborative relationships that help bring bespoke visions to life. Whether through a partner jeweller or a direct enquiry, we welcome the opportunity to transform personal materials into jewellery that is as meaningful as it is beautiful.
